I used crimson red ceramic pieces for the flower, cut from a crockery platter. The foliage was cut from green plates. The center of the flower is made from an assortment of beads and fresh water pearls. The background is made from glass tiles. My signature butterfly, in the bottom left corner is made from ceramic tiles.
Statement:
I wanted to make a mosaic for this auction of something Australian.
The Waratah, Telopea speciosissima, is one of Australias most admired flowers. It is the floral emblem of New South Wales.
